As a hand/camp axe, the Agawa Canyon ADK26 is ideal for small jobs such as wood carving, chopping kindling and other precision work. Snap on the extra handle, and you’ll have a strong forest axe. A forest axe is a longer axe perfect for splitting larger logs or cutting down thick branches. That way, with one axe, you always have the right axe to hand!

Agawa Canyon ADK26 made from 5160 carbon steel

The hardened axe head is forged from high-quality 5160-carbon steel. The black oxide coating not only looks sleek, but also offers excellent protection against rust. Thanks to its thin blade, the axe is perfect for light tasks, such as making kindling or feather sticks. Towards the middle, the axe head quickly becomes a lot thicker. In combination with the longer handle, the axe will also effortlessly split larger pieces of wood. The back has a striking surface, so you can also use the axe as a hammer. A unique combination of precision and power!

The axe head and handle are fused using an ‘overmoulding’ process. This involves placing the axe head in an injection moulding machine, after which the handle is formed under high temperature and pressure around a recessed part and through an ‘X’ shaped hole in the axe head. The heat melts the materials together into one extremely sturdy whole. The axe head is forged in Ohio, USA, while assembly and further production take place in Ontario, Canada.

The handle is made of nylon 6 with fibreglass reinforcement, a material known for its strength, durability and impact resistance. Thanks to the combination of this robust material and the hollow construction, vibrations during chopping are effectively absorbed. This makes it comfortable to use even after prolonged use. The wood-grain texture on the handle not only looks nice, but also offers excellent grip.

Although fibreglass-reinforced nylon may seem less robust than steel or wood, this handle is surprisingly strong. The snap construction has also been extensively tested. The parts click firmly together and are stuck without play. Once clicked together, the axe really feels like one rock-solid piece. So, chop away!

The ADK26 comes in a sturdy Cordura sheath. This sheath has room for both the handle and the handle extension. You can transport the axe assembled or separately, thanks to a handy opening at the bottom of the sheath.
