The Benchmade Bailout 537FE-02 Flat Dark Earth, Blue Aluminium is a lightweight and sturdy pocket knife with a Flat Dark Earth-coloured blade. The Bailout is a larger version of the famous Benchmade Bugout. One of the best EDC knives ever produced, designed for hikers who pay attention to every gram. This improved version of the Bailout is, without a doubt, another Benchmade home run.

CPM M4 steel blade.

Benchmade used CPM M4-steel, instead of CPM 3V. This is a tool steel with great sharpness retention. M4 is also really tough and, when compared to other types of super steel, relatively easy to sharpen. The only thing you need to pay attention to is rust: CPM M4 isn’t corrosion resistant. To counterbalance this, Benchmade enhanced the blade with a Cerakote coating.

Aluminium handle

The first thing you’ll notice is the handle. It is made from top-quality aluminium instead of plastic. The result is a more solid, less flexible handle. Benchmade enhanced the scales with a diamond pattern for additional grip.

The Bailout is a part of Benchmade’s black class collection, and is designed as a tactical knife for first responders and soldiers. This is clear when you look at the blade. The tip is enhanced with a tanto shape, perfect for self-defence and piercing tasks.

The Benchmade Bailout has a slightly shorter deep-carry pocket clip than most models. Less steel means less weight: another detail that was carefully thought through. You can place the clip on either side, making it the perfect knife for both left-handed and right-handed use.​
