The Böker Cottage-Craft paring knife is a very practical mix of a chef’s knife and a peeling knife. The most frequent use of the paring knife in the kitchen is when peeling vegetables and fruit. But you can also cut smaller pieces of fish and meat. You will use this knife on a regular basis and should therefore not be missing from your kitchen!

With this Cottage Craft collection Böker took things up a notch. The blade is made from C75 carbon steel. Not stainless, but like how they used to make it. Even easier to sharpen razor-sharp, which is a great advantage. Carbon steel also forms a blue-grey patina in time. It changes colour because of fruit acids and moisture. That is why a couple drops of oil once in a while will keep it in great shape.

The handle is made from stunning plum wood. A material we often see on classic knives from Solingen, Germany. The edges are nicely rounded and the fine texture of the wood looks great on the slim handle. In line with the ancient tradition of producing knives in Solingen, the scales were mounted to the full-tang blade with solid brass rivets. As such bacteria won’t be able to accumulate.

Ever since the 14th century the so-called ‘kotten-farms’ determined the future of Solingen, the knife capital of Germany. The solid sharpening stones were driven by pure water power and the world-famous knives were sharpened by hand. The Böker Cottage Craft collection of kitchen knives impressively continues the heritage of this traditional craftsmanship. Böker used remarkable materials for these kitchen knives. Especially the use of the non-stainless carbon steel C75 and the plum wood is remarkable. Made by hand for an affordable price.
