The Civivi Tamashii C19046 is a cool fixed knife, designed by Bob Terzuola. You immediately recognize the hand of this legendary knife maker. The shape of the handle, the sleek ‘swedge’ on the spine of the tip (false edge): all Terzuola. The pointed blade has a nice, thin grind. As such, it is amazing to use. Truly!
D2 steel blade
The blade is made from D2 steel. This is a tough type of steel that retains it sharpness well. You can easily sharpen it yourself which is great if you use it on a daily basis. Do, however, be careful with moisture and acids: D2 is not completely stainless. So clean the knife after use, especially when (fruit)acids, salt or moisture came into contact with the knife.
The construction of the handle is also worth mentioning. The handle is made from micarta and offers you enough grip. Instead of adding scales against the tang of the blade, the scales fall around the tang. As such you won’t come in contact with the blade, which is great in very cold circumstances.
You can carry it with you in the included kydex sheath. With the belt clip you can decide how to carry the knife. You mount it horizontally, vertically or even diagonally. It is up to you!
