The Demko Knives FreeReign is a beast of a fixed knife, designed for heavy-duty use. This is reflected in the 5-mm thick blade and the grippy handle. You can clearly see Andrew’s style. For example, the handle resembles the Cold Steel AD10 and AD15. The innovative, patent-pending sheath offers many options to carry your knife.

FreeReign blade
The blade is made from Japanese AUS10A steel. This is a high-quality stainless steel with great cutting capabilities, toughness and corrosion resistance.

With its sturdy pointed tip, the tanto blade shape is ideal for piercing and poking. This makes the knife great for activities such as opening cans, piercing materials and tactical applications. The straight part of the edge, near the tip, can also be used for small cutting and scraping work.

FreeReign handle
The large and grippy handle is made from injection moulded rubber.This material offers a perfect grip, even in wet circumstances. The handle absorbs shocks well and has a soft and flexible feel to it, making it comfortable to use even for long periods of time. It’s also resistant to moisture, chemicals and extreme temperatures.

The handle is full-tang, meaning the steel extends all the way to the end of the handle. At the end of the handle the tang sticks out a bit, so you can use it as a hammer or glass breaker.

FreeReign sheath
The FreeReign comes with an innovative, scratch-resistant, MOLLE compatible sheath (patent-pending). The unique construction of the sheath contains a non-glass Kydex core, a softer type of Kydex. This prevents the sheath from dulling your knife when using the sheath a lot. The outer edges of the sheath are made from glass-fibre reinforced Kydex to ensure the sheath remains strong. These are detachable for maintenance and cleaning the sheath, something you rarely see. The sheath also has a little hole for drainage, if necessary.

Andrew Demko is the founder and owner of Demko Knives. He found his calling in 1988 when he started out blacksmithing chisels. His passion for the trade soon led to knife making. Andrew’s passion for engineering and attention to detail stood out. At Cold Steel, Andrew made his mark by designing some of the most innovative and powerful locking mechanisms in the industry. This includes the legendary Tri-Ad-Lock, the Scorpion Lock, and later for his own brand: the Shark Lock. Following the acquisition of Cold Steel by GSM Outdoors in 2018, Andrew expanded his business with his brother, John Demko. John brought a lot of expertise in the fields of custom knife production, manufacturing and sales. Long-term friend and fellow knife maker Mike Wallace also joined the team.
