The Fenix PD45R ACE is not just any flashlight. This is the first member of Fenix’s new ACE (Advanced Command Edition) series, designed specifically for professionals who demand maximum control. With a maximum output of 3200 lumens and a beam distance of 410 meters this is a real powerhouse. But the thing that sets this torch apart is its innovative SET mode control, allowing you to choose the number of light modes you’ll be using. From one simple mode to six different modes. You choose what suits you in specific conditions. One light mode, for example, is ideal for police officers or security. It’s quick, efficient and you don’t fumble around to find the right mode. The option to access multiple modes can come in handy during DIY work around the house, for instance. This allows you to choose the right light intensity for every task.

Built for heavy-duty use

The PD45R ACE can handle its own. The CNC-milled body made from metal ensures this torch is robust and reliable. Thanks to the IP68 rating, this torch is fully dustproof and waterproof up to 2 metres under water. Its dimensions are compact enough for everyday use (158 mm long, 30 mm wide), while its weight of 200 grams including battery makes it feel sturdy but not too heavy in the hand.

How to use the Fenix PD45R ACE

You control the Fenix PD45R ACE effortlessly with the ‘tactical switch’ and the ‘mode selection ring’ on the back of the torch. Switching between modes is done with the rotating mode selection ring just below the tactical switch. It allows you to easily switch between light mode, lock mode and SET mode.

Light mode: cycle through all light modes

In light mode, you have access to all light modes. By briefly pressing the tactical switch, you switch smoothly between Eco, Low, Med, High, Ultrahigh and Turbo. With the torch switched on, press and hold the tactical switch for 0.5 seconds to activate strobe mode. Press down the tactical switch fully again to deactivate strobe mode.

Lock mode: lock the torch or light mode

When the torch is on, turn the mode selection ring to lock mode to lock the current light mode. The tactical switch will no longer respond then: you cannot switch the torch off or change light mode.

When the torch is switched off, you can turn the mode selection ring to lock mode to fully lock the tactical switch. This prevents the torch from being accidentally turned on. Turn the ring from lock mode back to another mode to unlock the torch again.

SET mode: choose your preferred option

This is where the PD45R ACE really stands out from the rest of the Fenix range: the SET mode. This lets you decide which light modes are available when you use the torch. You choose from 6 preset options, tailored to different situations. Short and snappy, or long-lasting and low-energy, for instance.

This is how it works:

1. Turn the mode selection ring to SET

   The torch will flash x times to indicate your current preset (e.g. 4 flashes = option 4)

   Press the tactical switch fully down to choose a different option. Each click takes you one preset up. (for example, 2 clicks = option 2)

   The torch comfirms your choice by flashing the number of times that corresponds with the option you chose.

   Turn the mode selection ring back to light mode and use the chosen preset.

Turbo: 3200 lumens, 2 hours and 20 minutes, 410 metres

Intelligent overheating protection

With prolonged use in Turbo or Ultrahigh light mode, the torch will heat up. Once the temperature rises to 60 degrees Celsius or higher, the torch will automatically reduce the lumen count to cool down, until the Medium level is reached. If the temperature drops below 60 degrees again, the torch will gradually return to the previously set light mode.

Charging and battery status

The Fenix PD45R ACE comes with a powerful 6000mAh 21700 battery. The USB-C charging port is cleverly hidden in the head of the torch, protecting it from dust and water. Turn the ring at the bottom of the head to reveal the charging port. Simply connect the supplied UBS-C cable. Charging takes about 3 hours with an 18W adapter. The torch indicates the battery status with the battery indicator:

Green light burning continuously: 100% – 85%
Green light flashing: 85% – 50%
Red light burning continuously: 50% – 25%
Red light flashing: 25% – 1% Please note: this function only works using Fenix ARB-L21 series batteries.
