The MKM TPF Defense is a compact little fixed knife, designed by Bob Terzuola. He is considered to be one of the fathers of the modern tactical knife. His designs have been at the forefront of the pocket knife world for more than 30 years. The TPF Defense (Terzuola Pocket Fixed Blade) is directly derived from one of his custom knives: the CQB. Despite its tactical design, the TPF is particularly suitable for EDC or as a cool office knife to use at your desk.

The blade is made from CPM MagnaCut. Many feel this type of steel is ‘perfect’. Quite the statement. We think they have a point. It is a stainless type of tool steel. With a comparable toughness and sharpness retention of carbon steels such as CPM-CruWear, CPM-4V and Vanadis 4. The corrosion resistance is also sublime. Better than the popular stainless types of steel such as CPM S110V, CPM S45VN and Böhler M390.

MKM TPF Defense handles

There’s a lot of variety within the TPF Defense collection. From Dark Matter carbon fibre to G10, wood and green canvas micarta. All TPF Defense handles are enhanced with a lanyard hole to make sure you can add a piece of paracord.

MKM TPF Defense sheath

The TPF Defense comes with a leather sheath. It is enhanced with a belt loop with a magnetic closure. This ensures that the knife stays in place inside the sheath. But it also enables you to easily carry the sheath on your belt or pocket. The entire sheath will fit into your trouser pocket. You slide the magnetic closure over the edge of your pocket and it will secure itself.

A kydex sheath is sold separately. With this sheath, you carry the knife horizontally (scout-carry) on a belt, or wear the knife around your neck with the supplied lanyard as a neck knife.

What are the origins of MKM Knives?

MKM is a cooperation between Viper, LionSteel, Fox and Mercury. Four masters working in the Italian knife industry. It is no coincidence that they all come from the city of Maniago in northern Italy. It is the knife capital of the south of Europe. MKM stands for Maniago Knife Makers.
