The Rick Hinderer KA-BAR Blackwashed 3V, Black Micarta is a stunning version of the characteristic, historically legendary KA-BAR USMC knife, made by Rick Hinderer Knives. With its ‘full-tang’ construction and modern, premium materials, you can immediately see and feel that this is a rock-solid knife. The bolsters and ‘buttcap’ are aluminium with a black coating and black anodisation. Despite the higher weight due to sturdy construction, balance and manoeuvrability are not drastically reduced. Indeed; this knife feels very nicely balanced for a heavy-duty tactical knife of this size. The blade of the Rick Hinderer KA-BAR Blackwashed 3V, Black Micarta, fixed knife measures 17.5 cm in length and 4.5 mm in thickness. The total length is 30.6 cm.



Blade made of CPM 3V steel
The blade is made of CPM 3V steel, a tool steel type known for its exceptional strength. Damage due to breaking therefore hardly ever occurs. CPM 3V retains its sharpness very well. However, you do have to be a little careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely corrosion resistant. Keep this knife in perfect condition by taking care to clean it after use and applying a drop of oil every now and then.



The blade features a blackwashed finish. For this finish, the blade is first finished with a coating, then tumbled. This makes the blade look like it has been around for a while, kind of like jeans. A big advantage of this is that traces of use will be much less noticeable.



Micarta handle
The handle of the Rick Hinderer KA-BAR Blackwashed 3V, Black Micarta, fixed knife is made of micarta. This is a composite material made of fabric and synthetic resin. If you look closely, you can see a subtle texture on the surface, sometimes it looks almost like wood. This material is strong and stable, and it’s very grippy.
