The Rick Hinderer Slippy is a tough slipjoint pocket knife with various fantastic features. The design of this pocket knife means it is legal to carry it in many places in Europe. This is because the blade is held open by a slipjoint mechanism. This isn’t an actual lock, but more like a slight resistance.
You open the blade with the adjustable thumb plate. You can use this to determine which spot will give your thumb the most grip on the thumb plate. You can also completely remove the thumb plate to make sure you cannot open it with one hand. To do this, carefully loosen the small screw with the supplied mini Allen key and also tighten the screw carefully.
The blade on this Rick Hinderer Slippy is made from CPM 20CV steel. It is a premium type of steel which is extremely stainless and retains its sharpness well. The stonewashed finish effectively masks any traces of use. This specific blade shade is called a sheepsfoot. This is a shape with a downward curved tip. A friendly-looking shape that is practical in use.
The handle is made from G10. This is an incredibly strong material that offers plenty of grip. As befits Rick Hinderer the ergonomics are amazing. You have finger grooves for enough grip.
