The Spartan Blades Phrike SB17 Black, Green G10 is a slim fixed knife, made in the United States. This knife is made according to the style we have grown accustomed to from Spartan Blades. Modern, sleek and functional at the same time. The handle is only 8.3 mm thick. And yet the ergonomics are remarkably good. The name Phrike comes from the spirit of horror from Greek mythology.

The Spartan Blades Phrike was designed for daily use. More solid than a pocket knife, but because of its slim profile you can just as easily carry it with you. Also because of the very compact kydex sheath. It is not any bigger than necessary. Due to the innovative belt loop there are many ways to attach the knife. The belt loop is namely made from a decent rubber strip with a solid press-stud. With it you can carry it from your belt, from MOLLE webbing, or even on the inside of your waistband.

Please note: kydex is an extremely fine material for a tactical sheath, but does leave behind scratches on the blade. It is simply a part of it.



The blade of the Spartan Blades Phrike SB17 Black, Green G10, fixed knife, kydex sheath measures 10.2 cm in length and 4.7 mm in thickness. The total length is 21.7 cm.



Blade made of CPM Magnacut steel
The blade of this Spartan Blades Phrike, Gold – Elite Grade is made of CPM Magnacut steel, possibly the most revolutionary steel of the 21st century. MagnaCut offers an unrivalled balance between sharpness retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Since the release of CPM MagnaCut in 2021, it has become one of the most popular steels in the world of knives. The MagnaCut blade of this pocket knife measures 10.2 cm in length.

History of CPM Magnacut
This type of steel was developed by Dr Larrin Thomas, a metallurgist who has dedicated his career to improving knife steel. He is the son of Devin Thomas, a famous damascus smith who supplied Chris Reeve Knives with steel for many years. Dr Larrin Thomas works in the automotive industry but is passionate about knife steels. He thought it should be possible to do better, and together with Crucible Industries came up with CPM MagnaCut. The blade is finished with a DLC coating, which stands for ‘Diamond Like Carbon’. It’s a very hard coating that is even harder than the steel. This makes DLC very scratch-resistant, and this coating protects the blade against corrosion. DLC is very hard, but it is also only a thin layer: eventually, you will always see signs of use.



G10 handle
The Spartan Blades Phrike SB17 Black, Green G10, fixed knife, kydex sheath features a handle made from G10. This is a composite material made of glass fibre and synthetic resin. It is very strong, offers a lot of grip and is comfortable to hold. Moreover, it is not affected by moisture and it is a very stable material. It’s an excellent choice for the handle of a fixed blade.



The Spartan Blades Phrike SB17 Black, Green G10, fixed knife, kydex sheath comes with a sheath made of kydex, a sturdy plastic that will keep the steel safe. However, it is important to keep a kydex sheath clean on the inside. Rinse it regularly with water. This will prevent dirt from remaining in the sheath, which can scratch the blade.
