The Spartan Harsey Folder 3.25 SF10C-KRAKEN, Stonewashed CPM MagnaCut, Kraken Green/Bronze/Gold Anodized Titanium pocket knife is a nice EDC pocket knife in the colour bronze, gold, green. History of CPM Magnacut
This type of steel was developed by Dr Larrin Thomas, a metallurgist who has dedicated his career to improving knife steel. He is the son of Devin Thomas, a famous damascus smith who supplied Chris Reeve Knives with steel for many years. Dr Larrin Thomas works in the automotive industry but is passionate about knife steels. He thought it should be possible to do better, and together with Crucible Industries came up with CPM MagnaCut. The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.



Titanium handle

The handle of this Spartan Blades Harsey Folder is made of titanium and measures 10 cm in length. Titanium is a fantastic high-tech material. It is an excellent choice for the handle of a pocket knife for several reasons: titanium is very strong, lightweight and it is flexible. Moreover, titanium can be machined very precisely and a wide range of different finishes are possible. To be exact, the handle is made of a titanium alloy. Small amounts of aluminium and vanadium are added to pure titanium to make it even more suitable for use as a pocket knife handle.
