The Spyderco Byrd Robin 2 is a small but practical knife for daily use. The 8cr13MoV steel blade can easily be opened with the comet-shaped hole. When opened the blade is locked by a decent and reliable back-lock. As an extra safety precaution this back-lock has been enhanced with a so-called Boye-dent; a crescent-shaped cut-out that makes sure the knife won’t close during heavy-duty use.
This knife weighs next to nothing because of the FRN handle. This is a light and strong material that offers you enough grip. The compact dimensions make this pocket knife look friendly and graceful. The knife is enhanced with a decent pocket clip that can be attached to the handle in four different ways. As such the user can decide to go with ‘tip-up’ or ‘tip-down’ carry and left and right-handed use.
Spyderco introduced the Byrd collection as a more affordable alternative for the famous, but often more expensive Spyderco knives. Byrd knives are made in China. Of course, they adhere to Spyderco’s quality demands, and they are made with good designs and materials.
