The Spyderco Street Bowie Black FB04PBB is a small, fixed knife designed by Fred Perrin. A former French Army Commando, national Tae Kwon Do-champion and European full-contact stick-fighting champion. In addition, he is one of Europe’s most sought-after close-combat and self-defence instructors. The design of his knives gives away that his specialty lies in close-combat.

Spyderco Street Bowie blade

As the name suggests, the blade has a Bowie-style shape. This blade shape is especially great for piercing tasks. The blade is made from VG10 steel, a remarkable type of stainless steel. It’s a tried-and-tested steel type with excellent sharpness retention. The blade has a black, scratch-resistant and non-reflective ceramic coating for a tough yet subtle look.

The handle is made from Fibreglass Reinforced Nylon (FRN) and is poured directly on the tang of the knife. FRN is a fibreglass-reinforced plastic. What’s great about FRN is that it can take a beating, and it is water-resistant. The handle is long, so it will be comfortable to hold even when you’re wearing gloves. Thanks to the indentation for your index finger and the ‘jimping’ (notches on top of your knife) for the thumb, you have a great grip and great control over your knife. The Kraton inlay (a rubber-like material) provides extra grip.
